School District Welcomes New Meadow Pond Elementary Principal
The Katonah Lewisboro School District is expected to approve the hiring of Ashlyn Field as the new principal of Meadow Pond Elementary.

KATONAH, NY — The Katonah Lewisboro School District announced the anticipated hiring of Ashlyn Field as Meadow Pond Elementary School’s new principal.
Field’s appointment to the position in July must still be approved by the Board of Education at a meeting on Tuesday. The search committee made up of school officials and community members has recommended to the board the selection of Field be okayed.
“Ms. Field is an experienced, equity-minded leader, dedicated to the idea that in elementary school learning can be both meaningful and joyful,” Superintendent Andrew Selesnick said in a statement announcing the decision. “My thanks to the many colleagues and community members who were an important part of our hiring process.”
Selesnick said that Field impressed everyone involved during the long interview process. He noted that she emphasized her focus on the core values of the school system.
“I’m confident she will come to know the many strengths Meadow Pond already embodies and help our school grow forward,” Selesnick added. “She’s dedicated to an environment that encourages students to engage in critical thinking and develop their individual passions, and a school that is safe, inclusive and equitable for all.”

While Field will be new to the school, she is by no means new to the job of being a high-ranking school administrator. She has been the principal of Mott Haven Academy Charter School since 2017. The school was the first charter school in the country conceived to support the needs of students in the child welfare system. Previously, Field served as the assistant principal at the school. She was a New York City public school teacher for seven years.
“I am excited to join the Meadow Pond community,” Field said. “I have enjoyed every moment of getting to know the staff, students and families and I'm looking forward to continuing to connect with each of you to build upon the strong traditions and pride at the Katonah-Lewisboro School District.”
