How did you come up with the name?
I’ve always loved photography and connecting with people through photos. And I’ve ALWAYS had my camera with me everywhere. So I decided to use the “C’ from my last name (Campbell) and combine it with ThruLens to represent me looking through a camera lens. It was serendipity that made the “C” also symbolize the word “see.”

Why choose that location? Why start a business in this town?
I live here and photograph from my studio (which is in my home).

Briefly, what business are you in?
photography

What’s the most difficult moment or challenge you’ve faced as a business owner?
Trying to please everyone at the same time. Also, trying to keep my space/studio stress free and inviting, especially when I have a customer who is uncomfortable at being photographed and expects something vastly different from what I can offer.

Were there any challenges that made you second guess your decision to be an entrepreneur?
In an often ailing economy it sometimes may seem frivolous to spend money on photos, especially with the growing ubiquity of iPhones, etc. However, there are many people--thankfully--that value the power of photography and what can be captured by a professional photographer.

What’s been your favorite moment or proudest achievement since opening?
Having people so moved by the photographs of their children (or themselves) that they are brought to tears...

What’s the most innovative idea your employees or customers have had that you put into practice?
I’ve opened a FB page at friends’ urging :)

How do you deal with difficult customers?
I try to remain calm and considerate, and try to put myself in their place. And when possible, we come up with solutions together.

How does your business give back or get involved in the community?
I have photographed many people free, simply because their stories have touched me or because they didn’t have the funds to have professional photos taken.
