BEDFORD HILLS, NY — It was by chance that the owners of the Bedford hamlet's newest fitness studio found a shared passion and a partnership built on a newfound discipline.

Sunshine CrossFit and Athletics co-owner Catherine Brodsky says her fitness journey began with a missed flight when a short jog at the airport left her winded. Several years later and 80 pounds lighter, she says health and wellness have become a priority. She credits improving her physical fitness with creating a transformation that has impacted every area of her life.

Brodsky now holds CrossFit and Pilates certifications and has made it her mission and career to support others to realize a similar transformation in their lives.

“We believe in showing up for yourself every day,” Brodsky said. “Fitness not only allows us to better navigate the challenges and uncertainties of life, but to create a path of adventure, discipline, and purpose.”

Co-owner Ana Montoya, meanwhile, says she wandered into a CrossFit box a little over eight years ago. Initially, she was drawn to the functional movements and strong camaraderie of the discipline. The studio owner is now a Level 2 CrossFit coach and engaged to a fellow CrossFit enthusiast.

Montoya says a casual walk into a gym space nearly a decade ago transformed her world forever. Now, Montoya and Brodsky serve in the dual roles of fitness instructors and business owners.
