Nassau Police Release More Details In Road Rage Attack

One man attacked another with a flashlight, police said, so the other man pulled out a gun and shot him in the buttocks.

UPDATE, 2:40 P.M.: Nassau County police have released more details in the late-night road rage incident that left two men injured and one arrested.

Police say that a 62-year-old man was driving north on Bellmore Road when he got into an argument with Michael Bua, 47, of Stratford Court, North Bellmore. Both of the men got out of their cars and started arguing, and police say that Bua began to attack the other man with a flashlight.

The other man, who is a retired law enforcement officer and legally allowed to carry a handgun, pulled out his gun and shot Bua in the buttocks.

Bua was arrested without incident, and charged with second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Police say he will be arraigned when medically practical.

ORIGINAL STORY: Two men were injured, and one was arrested, after a road rage incident in North Bellmore Monday night turned violent. According to Nassau Police, the incident occurred around 11:15 p.m. at the intersection of Bellmore Road and Magnolia Road. Two men got into a verbal argument while driving, police said, that escalated to violence.

One of the man began to a beat the other with a flashlight, police said. In response, the second man pulled out a gun and shot the first man in the buttocks. Both men were taken to a hospital for treatment, and police say neither was seriously wounded.

The man who attacked with the flashlight was arrested, police say, but did not yet release his name.
