What better way to celebrate than with a dance party fit for the beaches of Miami! You’ve got the snacks, the friends, and the soundtrack—but what about the right moves? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. With a few suggestions from New York City’s best party, you’ll be spinning, dipping, & shaking into the spotlight in no time.

“The Miami Shake”
We’ll start off slow with a move that’s sure to warm up the crowd and get the party started, “The Miami Shake.” Grab a flowy dress, a handkerchief, maybe put down that drink—and start shaking! Move your feet to the beat; let your hips follow suit and when you feel comfortable, graduate to a full-on rhythm revolution in your living room! As Gloria says, “Once the music hits your system, there’s no way you’re gonna stop.” Helpful hint: throw in a solid hair flip & this move becomes a showstopper.

“The Side Shuffle”
As the party gains momentum—it’s time to introduce an all-new step. You’re a hip-shaking, conga-loving pro now, so why not get moving? “The Side Shuffle” takes those shaking skills and adds a bit of heat. Have everyone pitch in and move your couch to the side—you’re gonna want some room for this one. Okay, turn up the volume, throw your hands in the air, look side to side, and let those hips propel you across the room—better yet “let the music move your feet!”

“The You Go Twirl”
Feeling confident? Got some slippery hardwood floors and a good pair of socks? “The You Go Twirl” will turn you into a full-blown star. No need to wait for a partner, you can do this move all by yourself. It’s really all about power—so throw your arms into it and keep practicing until you make it the whole 360.“Turn the beat around” then turn your whole body around! After all this dancing, you’ll definitely deserve a drink.

“The Big Dipper”
You’ve made it to the party big leagues—so you’re in need of a move to match. Just remember, “The Big Dipper” isn’t for the faint of heart—or the faint of rhythm. This takes trust in your partner and some really great core muscles, so if you’ve been hitting those ab workouts hard, give it a try! What would Gloria say? “Take a chance for once you won’t regret it!” Just make sure you’ve properly stretched. If this dip isn’t for you, don’t worry; you can always head to the chip bowl!

“The Pump It Up”
By the end of the night, you and your guests won’t want to worry about steps; you’ll just want to move. So we have the perfect finale for your whole group—“The Pump it Up.” When you pull out this move “everybody knows it’s party time!” Simple, fun, and not a bad calf workout either—no wonder it’s a classic. Once the whole crowd is fist-pumping and jumping in unison this party might just go “’til we see the break of day.” So just make sure your downstairs neighbors are invited to the party!
