After 32 Years, LI Cajun Restaurant Has Closed Its Doors

The Bayou had been one of Long Island's Cajun staples for decades.

After serving Cajun food for more than 30 years, The Bayou, located in North Bellmore, has closed its doors.

In message posted to the restaurant's Facebook page, owner Lisa Livermore announced the closure.

Livermore told Newsday that rising costs of business made it hard to stay open.

The restaurant has been a staple of Long Island's small Cajun food scene since it opened in 1986. Hundreds of fans, patrons and former employees of the restaurant took joined together to express their sadness over the closure.
