Bellmore-Merrick Names New Assistant Superintendent For Business

Mikaela Coni brings a wealth of financial and school administrative experience with her to the position.

BELLMORE-MERRICK, NY — Mikaela Coni has been named the new assistant superintendent for business of the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District, following the retirement of assistant superintendent Kate Freeman.

Coni joined the district in 2018 as the administrative assistant for business, working on all aspects of the district’s business operations. Prior to her time in Bellmore-Merrick, she worked for the Blind Brook-Rye Union Free School District, where she served as the supervisor of business services and district treasurer since 2013. In that position, Coni managed all aspects of the business office operations and personnel. She assisted in the development, preparation and monitoring of the annual budget. Furthermore, she participated in negotiations, managing the school food service program, assisting building administration with financial management, and ensuring the fiscal integrity of all business office operations.

Prior to joining the education field, Coni served as a senior accountant for O’Connor Davies LLP, in Harrison, New York. There, she worked as a lead senior on financial statement audits for governmental agencies.

Coni holds a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Manhattan College, a Masters of Education in Education Leadership from Pace University, and a master’s degree in public administration, also from Pace. She is a member of the New York Association of School Business Officials.

“It is an honor and privilege to serve as the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District’s assistant superintendent for business,” she said. “I am very excited to be a part of a great leadership team and look forward to supporting the district and ensuring our financial plans afford our students the opportunity to receive an excellent education.”
