Bellmore Students Learn School Bus Safety During Annual Bus Drills

Bellmore School District students learn how to safely board, ride and exit school busses during annual drills.

Bellmore School District students recently learned important skills for boarding, riding on and exiting the school bus during their respective schools’ annual bus drills. The bus safety program was incorporated into the school day in addition to the student’s regular classroom studies.

Guardian Bus Company’s bright yellow buses served as mobile classrooms where students learned bus safety rules and procedures. During the program, the students were reminded to buckle up, keep their hands inside the bus, find the emergency exit, never change seats and much more. One of the most important points made was to keep voices down so that the bus driver can concentrate.

“The bus driver is in charge, and he or she is responsible for getting you to school safely,” Gloria Panella, a sixth-grade teacher at Shore Road Elementary School, reminded her students during the program.
