Curran: 3 More Coronavirus Related Deaths Reported In Nassau
The new deaths brings total number of deaths due to the coronavirus in Nassau County up to seven.
NASSAU COUNTY, NY — Three more coronavirus-related deaths have been reported in Nassau, County Executive Laura Curran announced on Saturday. According to Curran, the number of confirmed cases across the county has increased to 754 since the first patient was reported on March 5. Of those, 39 have been hospitalized and 7 are in critical condition.
The three new deaths were an 86-year-old woman from the Town of Hempstead, a 72-year-old woman from the Town of North Hempstead and a 46-year-old man from the Town of Hempstead. This brings the total to seven deaths due to the coronavirus in Nassau.
"Everyday the numbers will get bigger for the coming weeks, it's not going to be forever but for the coming weeks," Curran

Curran also emphasizes that of those positive cases, a "significant amount" have been resolved.
She also urges residents who received a positive result with mild symptoms not to call 911 unless they are having heart problems, shortness of breath or chest pains.

"Treat it like the flu or a bad cold...stay home, have some chicken soup, treat yourself to Netflix or whatever, read your favorite magazine, stay home, stay in bed," she said. "Unless you are actually experiencing chest pains or shortness of breath there is no reason call 911 for an ambulance. You are putting our first responders at risk, you are putting our health care professionals at risk and you are putting other people in the hospital in the emergency room at risk."
