Hempstead Town Hosting Drive-In Movies, Concerts This Summer

The free events are open to all Hempstead Town residents, but space will be limited.

HEMPSTEAD TOWN, NY — This summer, the Town of Hempstead will be hosting free drive-in movies for residents, featuring 16 new and classic films beginning on Tuesday, July 6. The town is also hosting a series of drive-in concerts this summer.

“Town of Hempstead residents have made great sacrifices over the past several months to help keep one another safe during the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Supervisor Don Clavin. “This Drive-In Movie Series, provided free to town residents, is our way of giving back to the community. Of course, we will still be enforcing social distancing and other restrictions to help protect moviegoers.”

Movies will begin at sunset, and attendees are urged to arrive early. The schedule of movies is:

All movies will be open to town residents on a first-come, first-served basis. Attendees must remain in their vehicles and follow all town safety guidelines. Instructions will be provided on how to tune your radio station to hear the movie audio inside your vehicle.

In addition to the movies, the town will be hosting more than two dozen drive-in concerts this summer, starting on July 6. All of the concerts are free, and begin at 8 p.m. at Town Park on Lido Boulevard in Point Lookout. For the complete listing of concerts, click here.
