Hempstead Town Hosting Drive-In Movies, Concerts This Summer

HEMPSTEAD TOWN, NY — This summer, the Town of Hempstead will be hosting free drive-in movies for residents, featuring 16 new and classic films beginning on Tuesday, July 6. The town is also hosting a series of drive-in concerts this summer.

“Town of Hempstead residents have made great sacrifices over the past several months to help keep one another safe during the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Supervisor Don Clavin. “This Drive-In Movie Series, provided free to town residents, is our way of giving back to the community. Of course, we will still be enforcing social distancing and other restrictions to help protect moviegoers.”

Movies will begin at sunset, and attendees are urged to arrive early. The schedule of movies is:

• Dirty Dancing – Tuesday, July 7 at Echo Park (399 Nassau Blvd., West Hempstead)
• Moana – Thursday, July 9 at Camp ANCHOR (630 Lido Blvd., Lido Beach)
• Daddy’s Home – Tuesday, July 14 at Rath Park (849 Fenworth Blvd., Franklin Square)
• Mamma Mia – Thursday, July 16 at Hewlett Point Park (130 Hewlett Point Ave., Bay Park)
• The Lion King (2019) – Tuesday, July 21 at Veterans Memorial Park (1700 Prospect Ave., East Meadow)
• Sonic the Hedgehog – Thursday, July 23 at Western Beef (322 Nassau Blvd., Roosevelt)
• Footloose – Tuesday, July 28 at Oceanside Park (3800 Mahlon Brower Drive, Oceanside)
• Grease – Thursday, July 30 at Niest Field (298-304 Jerusalem Ave., Levittown)
• A Dog's Journey — Tuesday, Aug. 4 at Niest Field (298-304 Jerusalem Ave., Levittown)
• E.T. – Thursday, Aug. 6 at Echo Park (399 Nassau Blvd., West Hempstead)
• Trolls – Tuesday, Aug. 11 at Seamans Neck Park (2700 S. Seamans Neck Rd., Seaford)
• Frozen 2 – Thursday, Aug. 13 at Camp ANCHOR (630 Lido Blvd., Lido Beach)
• Aladdin (2019) — Tuesday, Aug. 18 at Western Beef (322 Nassau Blvd., Roosevelt)
• The Secret Life of Pets 2 – Thursday, Aug. 20 at Echo Park (399 Nassau Blvd., West Hempstead)
• Onward – Tuesday, Aug. 25 at Baldwin Park (3232 S. Grand Ave., Baldwin)
• How to Train Your Dragon 3 – Thursday, Aug. 27 at Rath Park (849 Fenworth Blvd., Franklin Square)

All movies will be open to town residents on a first-come, first-served basis. Attendees must remain in their vehicles and follow all town safety guidelines. Instructions will be provided on how to tune your radio station to hear the movie audio inside your vehicle.

In addition to the movies, the town will be hosting more than two dozen drive-in concerts this summer, starting on July 6. All of the concerts are free, and begin at 8 p.m. at Town Park on Lido Boulevard in Point Lookout. For the complete listing of concerts, click here.
