(Nassau County Police Department)

A Brooklyn man was arrested Sunday after police say he robbed a pharmacy and then crashed the stolen car he was driving while fleeing police.

According to police, Arjumand Evans, 18, of Rockaway Park, Brooklyn, entered the Rite Aid at 2260 Jerusalem Ave. in Bellmore at 10:52 a.m. Police say he took items from the shelves and tried to leave without paying. A 28-year-old woman who worked there tried to stop him, and the two struggled, police said. Evans managed to flee and got into a white Volkswagen, which had been reported stolen from Suffolk County on Feb. 15, according to police.

Officers responded to the scene and found Evans in the car, police said. He tried to flee, but drove into a building and then fled on foot, according to police. He was arrested after a short foot chase. The building was not damaged.
