BELLMORE, NY — A great pitching performance catapulted the Mepham High School girls' softball team to a title.

The squad won the school's first Long Island Class A Championship, the Bellmore-Merrick Central School District said.

On June 19, Mepham defeated Miller Place High School, 1-0 in Brookhaven.
