NCPD Announce Suite Of National Night Out Events
The National Night Out is a time for communities and law enforcement to come together, and there are events happening all over the county.

The Nassau County Police Department will be participating in National Night Out events across the county next week.
The National Night Out is an annual event where communities come together with law enforcement and spend time together. The goal is to strengthen the bond between law enforcement and the community.
This year's National Night Out is Tuesday, Aug. 6.

The Nassau County Police Department is participating in events throughout the county, in all of the department's precincts. Here's the info:
- Van Ness Fire House, 154 Uniondale Ave., Uniondale; 6 to 9 p.m. — Sponsored by Legislator Kevan Abrahams. Family fun evening, giveaways, crime prevention awareness.
- Baldwin Park, 3232 S. Grand Ave., Baldwin; 7 to 8:30 p.m. Nassau County Legislator Mule will be participating in the event. Crime prevention literature will be available.
- Veterans Memorial Park, East Meadow and Prospect avenues, East Meadow; 6 to 9 p.m. — Hosted by Legislator Tom McKevitt, Council of East Meadow Community Organizations (CEMCO) and Crime Watch Project Director Norma Gonsalves.
- Broadway Mall, Hicksville, in parking lot next to Round1, 6 to 8 p.m. — Partnered with Legislator Drucker the event will be sponsored by the Broadway Mall and will feature entertainment, family activities and giveaways.
- Martin “Bunky” Reid Park, Broadway Ave., Westbury; 5 to 8:30 p.m. — This event starts with a parade which will assemble at the Salvation Army, 992 Prospect Ave. at 5 p.m. The parade will proceed westbound on Prospect Avenue, turn left onto southbound Swalm Street, continue across Broadway and enter the park. After the parade, there will be a fair at the park beginning at 6 p.m. Legislator Bynoe and the Town of North Hempstead are participating in the event.
- Kelleher Field, Williston Park; 7 to 9 p.m. — A Children’s Ride for a Safer Williston Park Parade assembles at Broad and Amherst Streets and begins at 7 p.m. The parade concludes at Kelleher Field, where a Block Captain’s meeting of the Williston Park Neighborhood Watch will take place at 7:30 p.m., followed by National Night Out festivities.
- Cedarhurst Park, located at Cedarhurst and Summit avenues, Cedarhurst; 6 to 10 p.m. — Crime-prevention literature will be distributed. Sen. Todd Kaminsky and Town of Hempstead Supervisor Laura Gillen have been invited.
- Dutch Broadway Park, 2161 Dutch Broadway, Elmont; 6 to 9 p.m. — Organized in conjunction with Legislator Carrie Solages. Co-sponsored by Walmart and Applebees. Music, entertainment, food, activities and giveaways are planned.
- Jonathan L. Ielpi Firefighters Park, Grace Ave., Great Neck Plaza; 5 to 10 p.m. Hosted by Legislator Ellen Birnbaum and Mayor Celendar of the Village of Great Neck Plaza. Crime-prevention literature will be distributed to the public.
- John Burns Park, Merrick Road, Massapequa. 6 to 9:30 p.m. — Held in conjunction with "Music Under the Stars" program, which begins at 8 p.m. Residents will have an opportunity to speak with their local precinct personnel and receive crime-prevention tips.
- Bethpage Middle School, 500 Broadway, Bethpage; 6:30 to 9 p.m. Legislators Rose Walker and Linda Schaefer are sponsoring event, along with AT&T and RING. Outdoor movie night showing "Secret Lives of Pets" at dusk, face painting, giveaways and snacks. Hicksville Fire Department "Smoke House" fire prevention trailer will be there.
