Two Men Arrested in Bellmore For Gun Possession

A marijuana pipe was also found in the car the defendants were in, police said.

Two men were arrested in Bellmore on Sunday after they were found in possession of a gun, police said.

According to authorities, police saw Kevin Deturris, 40, of West Babylon driving a 2005 Dodge northbound on Bellmore Avenue, failing to stop at a stop sign and failure to signal a turn at Boundary Avenue.

A vehicle and traffic law stop was then conducted and officers observed a marijuana pipe in the cup holder of the center console. Deturris and his passenger, Anthony Trentacosta, 21 of Bellmore were removed from the vehicle and interviewed, police said.

Deturris claimed ownership of the marijuana pipe. Police then recovered a Glock .357 handgun from the center console and a nightstick from underneath the rear passenger seat. Both men were then taken into custody and the vehicle was impounded.

Both were charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. In addition, Deturris was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and numerous violations of the vehicle and traffic law.
