Winthrop Students Learn Healthy and Safe Habits

Pupils spent a week learning how to take care of their minds and bodies.

Students from Winthrop Avenue Elementary School recently spent a week learning how to eat properly, play safely and form healthy habits.

During the week of activities, Nassau County Police Officer Sharon Galvin discussed Internet safety and cyberbullying, school social worker Christine Davison taught students techniques on stress reduction and the students enjoyed a healthy cooking lesson from Dr. Robert Dell’Amore during his “Power of Food” presentation.

“It’s a week where we help the students become aware of how important it is to keep their body and mind well fed and to feel safe emotionally,” Principal Sally Curto said.
