Here are some of the events upcoming this weekend in Westchester's parks.

FRIDAY, SEPT. 6

SATURDAY, SEPT. 7

Muscoot Hike: 7 a.m. – 8 a.m. Muscoot Farm, Route 100, Somers: (914) 864-7282. A hike to learn more about the farm and its trails.

Survival Skills: 1 p.m. Trailside Nature Museum at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation, Cross River: (914) 864-7322. Ever wonder if you could survive alone in the wilderness? Learn skills including how to build a waterproof shelter and how to create fire using a bow drill. For kids ages 10 and up with their parents.

Special Places, Special Insects: 1 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. Edith G. Read Wildlife Sanctuary, Playland Park, Rye: (914) 967-8720. There are more insects around us than we think! Scout the meadows, gardens and their margins for these tiny creatures with entomologist Harry Zirlin.

Volunteer Work Project: Clearing Hiking Trails. 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. Marshlands Conservancy, Route 1, Rye: (914) 835-4466. Great for any type of service credit hours. Bring work gloves. Hand tools will be provided.

Ponding Exploration: 1 p.m. – 2 p.m. Cranberry Lake Preserve, 1609 Old Orchard St., North White Plains: (914) 428-1005. Join us for some ponding and look for aquatic critters up close.

Art Show: Works by Cindy Sacks: noon – 4 p.m. Muscoot Farm, Route 100, Somers: (914) 864-7282. On view weekends through September.

SUNDAY, SEPT. 8

Bicycle Sundays: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Also: Sept. 15, 22 and 29. Bronx River Pkwy., White Plains to Yonkers: (914) 995-4050. Bike, jog, ride, walk or skate the parkway from the Westchester County Center in White Plains to Scarsdale Road in Yonkers.

Pond and Stream Exploration: 2 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Marshlands Conservancy, Route 1, Rye: (914) 835-4466. Explore life within the pond and stream ecosystems. Wear clothing that you won’t mind getting wet.

SATURDAY, SEPT. 7 and SUNDAY, SEPT. 8

The amusement park is open for the final weekend of the season, noon – 8 p.m. Playland Park, Playland Parkway, Rye: (914) 813-7000. $20 special admission to ride all day. Parking fees apply. Playlandpark.org.

Boardwalk Memories: Art on the Beach: Saturday and Sunday 11 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. Playland Park, Playland Parkway, Rye: (914) 813-7000. “The Floating Forest” exhibit features ceramic jellyfish suspended from the ceiling at varying heights with lights cast down upon them, creating an engaging and interactive piece that adults and children can enjoy. In Playland’s south bathhouse, Hours vary. Final week of the season to view this exhibit. Playlandpark.org.
