The 2021 Chappaqua Area School Budget Election Results

CHAPPAQUA, NY — The polls have closed and the votes have been tallied. The unofficial results are in. Here's what the voters decided in the 2021 Chappaqua School District and Byram Hills School District budget elections.

CHAPPAQUA SCHOOL DISTRICT:

The proposed budget of $130,460,188, with a 1.73 percent increase over the 2020-21 spending package was APPROVED.

School officials said the tax levy will now increase by 2.03 percent.

One board of education seat and one library board seat were on the ballot as well.

There are two candidates for the open Chappaqua Central School District seat. The winner of the seat is Cailee Hwang defeating Ellen Exum.

One additional Proposition question on the ballot was APPROVED.

Voters were asked to vote on $650,000 in funds for a Greeley Gym Boiler Room project. The boiler spending does not change the levy amount.

CHAPPAQUA PUBLIC LIBRARY

Chappaqua Library Budget was approved 1,245 to 80

Shohreh Anand was voted to the Chappaqua Library Board

BYRAM HILLS SCHOOL DISTRICT:

The proposed budget of $95,243,544, with a 0.75 percent increase over the 2020-21 spending package was APPROVED.

School officials said the tax levy will now increase by 1 percent. The school system touted this increase as being among the lowest in the region.

According to the district, the spending plan will allow for no reductions in staffing, athletic programs or extracurricular activities.

There were a total of two school board trustee seats to be filled for three-year terms. The winning candidates are:

• Scott Levy (incumbent)
• Petrie Verma

Both were running unopposed.
