Colder, Clearing: Chappaqua's Work Week Weather

CHAPPAQUA, NY — After having been warmer than normal at the beginning, October's middle will be cooler than normal, forecasters say. The good news is that after Monday's rain and thunderstorms, gray skies are going to clear up.

"Sun will be with us (mixed with clouds) through the rest of the week, along with cool temps in the 50s for highs," said Alex Marra and Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather.

Watch out for midweek, though.

"For many areas, Wednesday may be the most blustery day since early last spring or late last winter," according to AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Alex Sosnowski. "AccuWeather RealFeel® Temperatures will dip to as much as 20 degrees lower than the actual temperature. Conditions are likely to bring a hard, killing freeze to much of the interior Northeast during Wednesday night."

Here's the NWS's work-week forecast for northern Westchester:

• Monday Night-Mostly cloudy. Showers with a slight chance of thunderstorms in the evening, then a chance of showers after midnight. Lows in the mid 40s. Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph, becoming northwest after midnight. Gusts up to 30 mph. Chance of rain 90 percent.
• Tuesday-Sunny. Highs in the mid 50s. West winds 10 to 15 mph. Gusts up to 25 mph in the morning.
• Tuesday Night-Mostly clear. Lows in the lower 40s. West winds 5 to 10 mph.
• Wednesday-Mostly sunny. Highs in the upper 50s. West winds 10 to 15 mph. Gusts up to 20 mph, increasing to 30 mph in the afternoon.
• Wednesday Night-Partly cloudy in the evening, then clearing. Lows in the upper 30s.
• Thursday-Sunny. Highs in the upper 40s.
• Thursday Night-Mostly clear. Lows in the upper 30s.
• Friday-Sunny. Highs in the upper 50s.
• Friday Night-Partly cloudy in the evening, then becoming mostly cloudy. A 30 percent chance of showers. Lows in the upper 40s.
