Cops: Mount Kisco Burglar Caught In The Act

Police said some of the items they recovered were not from the apartment in which an intruder was arrested. ​

MOUNT KISCO, NY — Westchester County Police said they got to an apartment on Maple Avenue in time to arrest an intruder on Sunday. Now a Mount Kisco man faces burglary and other charges.

County police said they received a call shortly before 11:30 a.m. reporting a burglary was in progress at 68 Maple Ave. A third party reported that a resident had just confronted an intruder in his apartment.

Police Officers Scott Forsythe, Brian Tierney and Bryan Yatsko responded, located the intruder inside the apartment and took him into custody.

Police said the man was found in possession of multiple items of stolen property — and not all of the recovered items were from the Maple Avenue residence.

Jevon Odum, 27, who has lived at various addresses in Mount Kisco, was charged with Burglary 2nd Degree, Grand Larceny 4th Degree and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th Degree, felonies; and Possession of Burglar Tools, a misdemeanor. He was held overnight at County Police headquarters in Hawthorne and was arraigned Monday in Mount Kisco Justice Court, where he was released on his own recognizance.

Officers recovered several pieces of jewelry, multiple credit and debit cards in other people’s names, $619 in cash, $60 in coins in a bag, a screwdriver and a pocket knife.

Detectives from the General Investigations Unit are continuing to investigate and additional charges are possible.
