DAR Chapter Continues Preserving Chappaqua's Quaker Cemetery
Members of Polly Cooper Chapter, NSDAR continued preserving and documenting the Quaker Cemetery last Sunday, July 8, 2018.

Chappaqua, New York – Members of Polly Cooper Chapter, NSDAR continued preserving and documenting the Quaker Cemetery on Sunday, July 8, 2018. Their preservation efforts include clearing overgrown ground cover, restoring grave markers to a tidy condition, and photographing each tombstone for the Find a Grave website. Less than a year into the chapter’s inaugural historic preservation project, the Polly Cooper Chapter is more than halfway complete with their goal to photograph the entire two-acre cemetery for Find-a-Grave.
Established by land donation in 1745 to serve as the burial grounds for Quaker families, the Quaker Cemetery is also known to be the final resting spot for Revolutionary War soldiers after the Meeting House served as a hospital for Washington's wounded soldiers following the Battle of White Plains on October 28, 1776.
The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution was founded in 1890 to promote patriotism, preserve American history, and support better education for our nation’s children. Its members descended from patriots who won American independence during the Revolutionary War.
