DAR Chapter Remembers Area Veterans

Members Participate in Wreaths Across America

(Bedford, New York) - Members of the Polly Cooper Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) honored the memory of local veterans on Saturday, December 19, 2020 for National Wreaths Across America Day.

The DAR members and other volunteers, including the DEALEY Division, the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corp, sponsored and layed remembrance wreaths on the snow covered graves of nearly 300 heroes at three cemeteries in Bedford, Westchester County, New York: The Old Burial Grounds, Bedford Union Cemetery, and Buxton Cemetery. Rodger Guest, Commander of Moses Taylor Jr. American Legion Post #136, coordinated the volunteer effort.

“It was a special experience to place wreaths on veterans’ graves today”, said Polly Cooper Chapter member Lisa Samkoff, “There are no words that can describe the feeling you get by remembering and thanking those who fought for our freedom. Everyone should lay at least one wreath for one veteran and experience this for themselves.”
