Harrison Edwards Wins Award for Ice Dam Campaign at 3rd Annual Westchester Digital Summit
The PR and marketing firm was named Most Digitally Forward Thinking Business.

Harrison Edwards Public Relations & Marketing captured the 2015 Chester Award as the Most Digitally Forward Thinking Business in Westchester at the third annual Westchester Digital Summit conference held May 14 in Rye.
Among a highly competitive field of entrants, Harrison Edwards was selected for its innovative and original use of digital marketing across multiple platforms, and specifically, for its “Ice Dam” campaign for RTK Environmental Group, that resulted in an increase in social media engagement and email marketing open rates—ultimately, resulting in an increase in revenue for their client.
“Interestingly, we ran our first national digital campaign in 2004 promoting the New York Times best selling book, ATreasure’s Trove,” said Bob Knight, executive Vice President. “Since then we have invested heavily in our digital infrastructure, including equipment, software, and professional development. Harrison Edwards now sends its team members to Silicon Valley for training on the latest digital and analytic practices.”

With the “Ice Dam” campaign, Harrison Edwards sought to publicize the potentially devastating effects of ice dams prevalent in many homes in the northeastern United States after this year’s devastating winter weather, all while promoting RTK’s industry-leading testing services. The Harrison Edwards team faced the tough challenge of talking head-on about an unsavory topic—leaks and mold growth resulting from snow melt— in a multi-pronged digital approach across several channels. The campaign included a “Biggest Icicle/Ice Dam Ever” photo contest, an infographic on ice dams, video, social media advertising, and several related blogs and email marketing pieces, among other things. The firm employed digital analytics to test ideas and refine each platform as the campaign progressed. The result? Tens of thousands of social media impressions, likes, shares, and profile visits, hundreds of new Facebook fans, and a 35 percent increase in mold inspection bookings for RTK were achieved in less than one month’s time.
“The Ice Dam campaign posed some unique challenges but our team approached them thoughtfully and carefully, so they are certainly deserving of this wonderful honor,” said Knight, who accepted the award on the firm’s behalf. “We are grateful to our clients for the opportunities they provide for us to create innovative campaigns on their behalf.”
