Heat Advisory Extended: Mount Kisco's Work Week Weather

Here's what to expect when for the rest of the first week in September around Chappaqua.

MOUNT KISCO, NY — Heat and humidity will continue to wilt the start of September. Heat indexes could again near 99 degrees on Wednesday and Thursday, when showers and thunderstorms are possible.

The Heat Advisories have been extended till 8 p.m. Wednesday. The National Weather Service says:

Extreme heat can cause illness and death among at-risk population who cannot stay cool. The heat and humidity may cause heat stress during outdoor exertion or extended exposure.

The first time we'll see relief will be Thursday when a cold front comes in.

"But for the next 48 hours… it’s summer in September," said Alex Marra and Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather. "Make sure you’re planned accordingly."

And we're calling it a cold front because that's what forecasters call it. In reality, temps will be around 80 degrees.

Still, while that's hot, it's 15 degrees cooler than the past week, right about normal for the first week in September.

Here's what the NWS forecasts for the rest of the work week in northern Westchester:

  • Wednesday-Partly sunny with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. Humid with highs in the mid 80s. South winds around 5 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.
  • Wednesday Night-Partly cloudy. A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms in the evening. Patchy fog after midnight. Humid with lows in the lower 70s. South winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.
  • Thursday-Mostly sunny. Patchy fog in the morning. A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms in the morning, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Humid with highs in the upper 80s. West winds around 5 mph. Chance of rain 50 percent. Heat index values in the mid 90s.
  • Thursday Night-Mostly cloudy. A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly in the evening. Humid with lows in the upper 60s. North winds around 5 mph. Chance of rain 40 percent.
  • Friday-Mostly cloudy. Highs in the upper 70s.
  • Friday Night-Mostly cloudy. Lows in the lower 60s.
