CHAPPAQUA - Kristen Browde has been endorsed by the New Castle Democratic Committee (NCDC) for the New York State Assembly seat representing 93rd District in Westchester. Browde, an attorney and former network news reporter and anchor, has lived in the district for 15 years.

“I’m truly honored by the support of this core group of Democratic activists, with whom I’ve been working for years,” said Browde. “Their support is a very important step towards securing the nomination in the June Primary and winning the election in November.”

Kristen, the lone woman in the primary race, possesses a unique skill set that will help her to work collaboratively in Albany with both Democrats and Republicans. Before she began her law practice, Kristen was an Emmy-award winning television news reporter and anchor. As a reporter, she developed a keen sense of justice as well as the ability to communicate the heart of any subject to a wide and diverse audience. As a Family Law attorney, she has worked to bridge the gap between people who once loved each other but who now can’t find common ground. Kristen often jokes that makes her perfect for her role in the Democratic Party – and her future role in the legislature.

Jeremy Saland, a member of the New Castle Town Board has also endorsed Kristen. “I’ve had the unique opportunity and good fortune to know Kristen Browde as a legal adversary, community advocate and friend in pursuit of many shared good government objectives and legislative goals,” he said. “As smart as she is passionate, and genuine as she is hard-working, I am confident Kristen will be an asset to the communities and people that make up the 93rd Assembly District.”

Once in office, Kristen will focus on a number of important issues facing the county, state and country. Among those are gun control, school safety, reversing the limitation on our property tax deductions imposed by the Trump Tax plan, protecting the fragile environment in the Hudson

Valley and common-sense redistricting that gets rid of the hodgepodge gerrymandering that still exists in New York State.

The 93rd District includes the towns of Bedford, Harrison, Lewisboro, Mount Kisco, New Castle, North Castle, North Salem, Pound Ridge and one half of the City of White Plains.

Browde, in addition to practicing as a lawyer, is the leader of two Bar Associations and has been a long-time union member and activist. She is a trustee of SAG-AFTRA’s $2.5 billion pension plan and a director of Equality NY. Both of those positions have led to her spending years working with the legislature and Governor to enact major legislation, including major amendments to New York State’s Human Rights and Criminal laws, as well as a ban on the use of non-compete clauses in employee contracts for broadcasters.

“My plan for Albany is to continue to build coalitions to make our county and our state safer and more prosperous, from getting a fair share of school aid to funding for badly needed infrastructure projects,” Browde said. “We can’t do it alone – but we can and must get it done.”
