Man Tried To Buy Car With Fake ID: Cops

Sales people at a dealership on North Bedford road suspected the buyer had given them a phony drivers license.

MOUNT KISCO, NY — A Yonkers man is accused of trying to buy a car from a Mount Kisco dealership using a fake name and phony ID. Police checking his real identity also found the New York State Probation Department had an arrest warrant out for him.

Westchester County Police responded to a dealership on North Bedford Road on July 31 after employees reported their suspicion that a customer was giving them a fake name and false ID. Patrol officers took the man into custody after they determined that he was in possession of a fraudulent New Jersey driver’s license.

Jorge Sanchez, 54, was arrested on multiple charges. He was charged with Attempted Grand Larceny 3 rd Degree, Possession of a Forged Instrument 2 nd Degree and Tampering With Business Records 1 st Degree, felonies.

A fingerprint check by detectives determined his actual identity and uncovered a New York State Probation Department warrant for his arrest.

Sanchez was arraigned in Mount Kisco Justice Court and ordered held without bail at the county jail.
