Marvelle J. Gilbert, age 93, a Chappaqua resident for 46 years, passed away on April 27, 2017. Born in South Bend, Indiana in 1924, she married her beloved husband of 52 years Paul Gilbert (WW2 Veteran; Pearl Harbor survivor; d. 1997) in 1945 while he was on furlough.
The couple lived in Chicago, and Queens, NY, before moving to Westchester in 1971.
Known for her giving nature, her seemingly inexhaustable energy, her larger than life personality, and her fondness for the color purple, she enjoyed tag sales, broadway, and community theatre, where she was a prominent presence on stage and behind the scenes. A cancer survivor since the late 1960’s, she enjoyed a very active lifestyle throughout her entire life.

She is survived by her devoted children, Glenn Gilbert of Mahopac and Richard Gilbert of Ossining, and a brother, Milton Gilbert of Indiana.
Interment was under the direction of Dorsey Funeral Home Inc. of Ossining.
