New Castle Cops Probe 2 Afternoon Home Break-Ins

They say the suspect also knocked on doors where people were home.

CHAPPAQUA, NY — New Castle police are investigating two burglaries committed Monday afternoon. Entry was made into one home through an open window after the screen was removed, and into the second home through an unsecured basement sliding door.

The burglaries, on Annandale Drive and on Crossways, took place at 1:55 p.m. and 2:17 p.m. Sept. 23, the New Castle Police Department said on Facebook.

Also, two reports of a suspicious person were received from residents on Orchard Ridge Road and Taylor Road. The callers stated that a stranger knocked on their door and requested to speak with a person who did not live there. After speaking with the resident, the man walked away.

Police said that in all of the incidents, the suspect was described as a black male in his 30s, with a slender build and some facial hair, approximately six feet tall, wearing all black. The man also wore a black baseball cap with “F*CK” written on it in white. He was believed to be driving a dark sedan, possibly an AUDI.

Police remind the public to please call regarding any suspicious activity. Residents should lock and secure all doors and windows on their homes, apartments, vehicles, and keep an outdoor light on or on a motion sensor during overnight hours.
