New Castle Town Board Approves Comprehensive Plan Update

The board unanimously approved the Comprehensive Plan's first major update since 1989.

CHAPPAQUA, NY - The New Castle Town Board voted unanimously on Wednesday to approve the town's updated Comprehensive Plan, Supervisor Rob Greenstein wrote in a Facebook post on Thursday.

The vote concludes an updating process that has been years in the making; it included volunteer committee members and public-input sessions. The plan, which is the town's overarching document for land uses and regulations, had its last major update in 1989, which Greenstein brought up in his post.

The comprehensive plan has also gone by other names, including as the "master plan" and as the "town development plan."

Greenstein, in his Facebook post, thanked town staffers, members of the steering committee for the plan update and Pace University's Land Use Law Center, which acted as a consultant for the process.

"I would like to thank Sabrina Charney Hull, our Director of Planning, Samantha Leroy, our Assistant Town Planner, and our entire Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee – Maud Bailey, Gregg Sanzari, Bob Lewis & Chris Roberta – for their commitment, dedication & hard work on this massive undertaking. And thank you to our Planning Board. We received and incorporated multiple comments and suggestions, which were incredibly helpful! I would also like to thank our Town Attorneys, our entire Town staff and PACE Land Use Law Center for their efforts in developing our Comprehensive Plan."
