NYS Assemblymember Burdick Endorses Democrats4New Castle Slate
Cites McCall, Morton, Weinberg & Bounds' Skills in Listening to Community Members & Recognition of Responsiveness and Achieving Consensus

New York State Assemblymember Chris Burdick has endorsed the Democrats4New Castle slate for New Castle Town Board, noting that “every member of the team is skilled in listening to members of the community and recognizes the importance of being responsive and achieving consensus”.
“I am delighted to endorse and strongly support the election of Holly McCall for town supervisor, the re-election of Lori Morton to the town board, and the election of Michael Weinberg and Jennifer Bounds to the town board,” Burdick said. “I am confident they would lead well, and I endorse them enthusiastically,” he added.
Burdick, a Democrat who represents the 93rd District, joined the NYS Assembly in January 2021, having previously served for seven years as Bedford Town Supervisor. In that role and working with the Bedford Town Board, Chris delivered on critical issues for his community, particularly in the areas of combatting the climate crisis, clean water infrastructure, affordable housing and immigrant protection.

“With Chris Burdick’s support, we look forward to working for sustainability, conservation, creating more public spaces for our thriving hamlets of Chappaqua and Millwood and advocating for equity and inclusion on the New Castle Town Board,” said town supervisor candidate Holly McCall on behalf of her running mates. "We greatly appreciate the support of someone with deep administrative and legislative experience who represents New Castle in Albany and has long-standing ties to other communities throughout Northern Westchester," she added.
According to Burdick, with Holly McCall’s long-standing and deep involvement in the community, she stands out as an ideal candidate to provide a steady and capable hand steering New Castle. He said her work as a member of the Chappaqua Central School District Board of Education gives her a “unique perspective and significant experience,” especially as to the needs of younger families who come to New Castle in large measure due to the excellent schools. Burdick added that McCall’s business background as a financial services project manager suits her well in seeing “the bigger picture” and setting out viable plans through collaboration with stakeholders.

Burdick said Dr. Lori Morton’s scientific training has brought a methodical and yet caring approach to her work as a member of the Town Board. “She is analytical, thoughtful and patient and, like McCall, her roots in the community are deep and she has demonstrated her willingness to roll up her sleeves in service to New Castle,” he remarked. Noting that Morton has done a “superlative job” on the town board with her “calm and unflappable demeanor’, Burdick stressed it is “critically important to have her experience at a time when there will be significant turnover in the leadership of New Castle”.
With his own finance and consulting business, and as a staff member for NY State Senator Pete Harckham, Michael Weinberg provides an additional dimension and further depth to the team, according to Burdick. “He has a deep understanding not only of New Castle but as a lifetime resident of Westchester County, a wider understanding of the 14 other towns in Sen. Harckham’s district,” Burdick observed, noting that as a longtime volunteer in a wide range of community activities, Weinberg will be an “outstanding addition to the board”.
Burdick applauded Jennifer Bounds’ record of successfully welcoming diversity into the community, appreciating her eye towards the future. “Her commitment to attract diverse businesses and residents to New Castle is founded on her love for New Castle and in her work as head of US operations for a European manufacturer, she is central to moving projects forward, “ Burdick added, noting such skill will be highly useful for work on the town board.
