Plea In Millwood Supermarket Stalking Robbery

The MO in two incidents was to pick out a victim at a grocery store and follow her home, prosecutors allege.

CHAPPAQUA, NY — A New York City man has pleaded guilty to attempted robbery. He was part of a couple who picked out a victim at the DeCicco's supermarket in Millwood Oct. 24.

The duo followed the victim home. Prosecutors allege the woman on the team, carrying flowers and a gun, muscled her way in, forced the victim to the floor, restrained her with plastic ties, and robbed her.

Philip Budin, 78, waited in the car, prosecutors said.

During investigation by New Castle Police, the Westchester County Police Department and Investigators from the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office, Budin and Mirabai Sheridan were found in Mamaroneck Nov. 14. They were following another potential victim from a supermarket, prosecutors allege.

Police pulled them over and arrested them, and found a gun in Sheridan’s vehicle.

Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino Jr. announced that Budin pleaded guilty to Attempted Robbery in the Second Degree, a class D violent felony. Westchester County Court Judge Barry Warhit accepted the plea.

Budin is required to pay restitution by the sentencing date, which is scheduled for Oct. 10.

The case against Mirabai Sheridan is pending.

Assistant District Attorney Nadine Nagler, Chief of the Narcotics and Firearms Bureau, is handling the cases.
