2021 Gurwin Photo Contest Entry Deadline Approaching

Submissions for Acclaimed Contest Due by June 15, 2021

Commack, NY— Time is running out to enter your photos in the Annual Gurwin Photo Contest! June 15 is the deadline for amateur photographers to enter photos in the following categories:
Action/Sports, Altered/Enhanced, Children, Landscapes, Long Island/NY, Nature, People, Pets, Still Life, Student, Travel and Wildlife. The contest, an annual favorite among photographers across Long Island as well as the nation, is unique in that, along with cash prizes for the top winners, all selected photos are enlarged and permanently displayed in the 460-bed Gurwin Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation Center skilled nursing facility for the enjoyment of the residents, staff and visitors.

"The contest is a highlight each year for our residents and staff alike,” said Stuart B. Almer,
President and CEO of the Gurwin Healthcare System. “The beautiful photos make such a difference to brighten our Center, and it is wonderful to see residents spending time looking at the photos, reminiscing and enjoying their beauty. We are always so appreciative of all who enter the contest each year.”

This year’s contest application and photo submission are available via a secure digital platform on
the Gurwin Healthcare System website at bit.ly/GurwinPhoto. Contestants may submit up to seven
photographs at a fee of $5 per entry. Those who prefer to enter by mail may still do so by visiting
the site and downloading here, completing and mailing the entry form with their 8x10 photo prints, along with check/ credit card payment. Prizes include a Grand Prize and Honorable Mention in each category selected by a panel of professional photographers, a number of Resident/Staff selections, and, new this year, a “People’s Choice” award that will be selected by popular vote on the digital contest platform. One of Long Island’s premier photo competitions, the Gurwin Photo Contest is made possible each year by long-time sponsor The Tiffen Company, in memory of Helen and Nat Tiffen, the company’s founder and former Gurwin resident. Based in Hauppauge, NY, The Tiffen Company is a leading manufacturer of glass filters and other gin products for digital, stills, videos, motions and more.
