2 Charged In Ax Attack On Long Island
Police say it happened in a wooded area Saturday night. The victim is in critical condition.
FREEPORT, NY — Two people were arrested after an ax attack on Long Island left a man in critical condition, New York State Police said.
According to police, Oscar Romero-Hernandez, 37, and Jose Otero, 38, got in an altercation with another person when the victim was struck in the head with the ax in a wooded area off the Meadowbrook State Parkway near Sunrise Highway in Freeport around 10:40 p.m. Saturday.
Police did not identify the victim, who was taken to Nassau University Medical Center and listed listed in critical condition.

Romero-Hernandez and Otero were charged with second-degree attempted murder and first-degree assault. Otero was also charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
