Arrows Bantam A, Freeport's Youth Ice Hockey Team wins their first home game of the 2016-17 season against Bronxville 8-4.

Freeport's youth ice hockey team, the Arrows Bantam A, had a great start to the 2016-17 season when they won 8-4 against Bronxville.
The game was played at Bellmore's Newbridge Arena Ice Rink on Saturday, September 17. This was the first home game for the travel team which made their success even sweeter. The Bantam A team held the lead over the Westchester team for all three periods under the direction of head coach, Matt Gertler, and assistant coaches, Ken Corrao and Frank Hujber. Goalies, Matthew McGrath and Gavin Regan, played a terrific game with many great "saves". The highlight of the game was in the final period, when forward Jack Mastrota earned a hat trick which pushed the team in to a more secure position for the 8-4 win.

The Arrows Youth Hockey Organization was established in 1962 and is based out of Freeport's Recreation Center and Bellmore's Newbridge Arena Ice Rink. The Arrows' coaches and staff has continued its tradition of developing Ice Hockey players throughout Long Island. As one of the oldest and most established Tier 2 ice hockey organizations on Long Island, the Arrows have found a way to stay ahead of ever changing times to meet the demand and expectations of their players. As a member of USA Hockey, NYSAHL, LIAHL and EJEPL, Arrows Youth Hockey is able to offer their travel teams the most competitive hockey throughout Long Island, New York, and the Eastern Seaboard at the Tier 2 and Tier 3 levels. The Arrows field multiple travel teams from Mites (8U) all the way up to Midget Majors (18U) to give your youngsters the opportunity to play ice hockey at any age.
