Freeport Man Killed In Martin Luther King Park Identified: Police
Taffarie Haughton, 21, was 1 of 2 men found shot and was later pronounced dead at a local hospital. The other victim remains hospitalized.
FREEPORT, NY – A 21-year-old Freeport man who was shot and killed on Saturday has been identified by police four days after he was found by Nassau County officers with gunshot wounds along with another unidentified teenager.
Taffarie Haughton died at a local hospital on Saturday after he was shot at Martin Luther King., Jr. Park on Stevens Street, police said Wednesday. Haughton was found at the park along with a 19-year-old man, who police said had also been shot after officers were called just after 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
The 19-year-old, who has not been identified police, remains hospitalized and is in stable condition. Nassau County Police detectives have not released any further information about the shooting and are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. Callers may remain anonymous.
