Freeport ROTC Displays Skills At Annual Battalion Parade

The students displayed dignity and discipline at the annual event.

From Freeport Public Schools: The Freeport High School Navy Junior ROTC had its dignity and discipline on full display at the annual Inspection and Battalion Parade before the Freeport Public School District Board of Education, administrators, Village of Freeport trustees, local war veterans and families.

The program’s 236 students performed their drills to perfection and passed their inspection, which was conducted by retired U.S. Navy Commander and NJROTC Area Four Manager Jimmie Miller. Commander Miller praised the students for representing themselves, their school and their families with excellence and pride. He then joined retired U.S. Marine Corps. Major Donald R. Moore Jr. and retired U.S. Navy Chief Louis Lopez, both current members of the high school’s Department of Naval Science, in presenting outstanding cadets with various awards.

“We just got a glimpse of what you go through every single day, but I am very proud of you for your extraordinary and amazing demonstration,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kishore Kuncham. “You are learning so much from this program, including critical thinking, problem-solving, and how to be better artists, musicians and leaders. You are our superheroes in the making.”
