Freeport School Budget Approved

Freeport residents approved the school district's budget in a vote Tuesday night.
The proposed $184,847,632 budget was approved 986 to 293. It came with a .12 percent tax levy decrease.
This year, residents had to choose among five candidates to fill two vacancies on the Board of Education after incumbents Anthony Miller and Michael Pomerico decided not to run. Maria Jordan Awalom and Gabriela Castillo won seats on the board, earning 714 and 659 votes, respectively.
