Pair Tried To Kill Man With Machete And Handgun: Police
Police say the two men tossed their weapons over a fence when officers arrived and fled.

FREEPORT, NY — Two men were arrested Tuesday after police said they tried to kill another man.
According to Nassau County police detectives, Freeport police officers received a call to North Long Beach Road at 4:35 p.m. for an assault in progress with shots fired. When the officers arrived, a witness told them that one man attacked another with a machete as a second attacker fired multiple shots from a handgun.
The officers began to search the area, and police said they found both attackers and saw them throw objects over a fence on South Bergen Street. As the officers approached, police said they began to ran, but were arrested after a short chase.

The officers returned to where the objects were thrown over the fence, and police said they found a large machete and loaded handgun. The victim was found a short time later with severe cuts to his right arm.
Abraam Rodriguez, 19, of North Long Beach Avenue, Freeport, was charged with second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault, first-degree criminal use of a firearm and two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Alvin Tineo, 20, of Jersey City, New Jersey, was charged with second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault and fourth-degree possession of a dangerous weapon.

Both men were arraigned Wednesday and were ordered remanded into custody.
