THE REAL DEAL ON THE SOCIAL ASPECT OF HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE READINESS...FREE WORKSHOP FOR STUDENTS AND PARENTS!
Saturday July 9, 2016 - A Self-Empowering Workshop and Community Networking Soiree for Long Island Area Parents and HS Grads - 8th graders
Your Time For Creative Empowerment, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, will offer a day of empowerment and inspiration to youth and parents at their Annual Free Self-Empowering Workshop for College-Bound Students and Community Networking Soiree on Saturday, July 9, 2016, 9 AM – 5 PM, at Kellenberg Hall Amphitheatre, Molloy College, 1000 Hempstead Avenue, Rockville Centre, NY 11570.
Parents/guardians, students (8th – 12th grade), community leaders and professionals are invited to attend this workshop that will address the social aspect of college readiness, the successful navigation of high school and parent/ youth communications skills.
Highlights include:

* Tools for navigating the many challenges which interfere with college success will be highlighted. “The Get Set Mindset” for 8th –10th graders will focus on high school success with relevant tools that are age and grade appropriate.
* Parent workshop - parents will participate in a session particularly geared toward the concerns and issues that parents have around communication and relationship with their college student child, and their support of their child’s success.

* Networking with resource professionals from various backgrounds
*Presentations from:
- Dr. Torian Easterling, Assistant Commissioner of Public Health for NYC Department of Health
- Diane O. Lucas, Esq., New York State Assistant Attorney General
- Madona Ayorinde Branch, Wellesley College 2015 graduate, will present on: Making Relationships Work
- A 2014 Creative Empowerment Arts contestant and Peer Leader on: What it Takes to Prepare for and Successfully Study Abroad (currently a student at Fashion Institute of Technology)
- A Creative Empowerment Arts College Scholarship recipient, and rising Sophomore at Lincoln University on: How to Achieve Balance at college
*Peer to Peer Forum
*Complimentary breakfast and lunch will be served. Special prizes will be awarded to the first 50 students to register.
