3 Dead, 4 Injured In Garden City House Fire
Three people were killed, including a high school student, and four emergency responders were injured the fire.

GARDEN CITY, NY — An early morning house fire in Garden City on Thursday killed three people and injured four emergency responders.
The fire broke out at a home on Washington Avenue. A call came in at 5:38 a.m. from someone passing by the home. Garden City firefighters were battling a massive fire in Westbury at the time and left to respond to the home, which was engulfed in flames.
Garden City police were first on the scene and couldn't get into the home. Officials said three people were killed; they were not identified. Police say the victims were a 62-year-old man, a 60-year-old woman and an 18-year-old woman. According to News 12, the 18-year-old was a student at Garden City High School.

The teen had just been accepted to New York University next fall, NBC 4 reported.
One Garden City police officer was hospitalized for smoke inhalation, and three firefighters had minor injuries and were treated at the scene.

The cause of the blaze was unclear. The fire is under investigation by the Nassau County Police Department's Arson/Bomb Squad and the Nassau County fire marshal.
A dozen fire departments assisted Garden City firefighters.
