Accident Shuts Down LIRR Branch In Garden City

GARDEN CITY, NY — A car crash on the railroad tracks has shut down service on the Hempstead Branch of the Long Island Rail Road.
According to the LIRR, a car crash on the tracks at the Franklin Avenue crossing has shut down the branch. The LIRR said it's working to secure buses for passengers to make up for the canceled trains.
The Hempstead Branch stops at Stewart Manor, Nassau Boulevard, Garden City and Hempstead.

Photos and videos from the scene showed poles knocked down over the tracks, and at least one car overturned. It's unclear yet if anyone was injured in the crash.
