The "Encore Series" is designed for alumni to come back, proudly show off their work and inspire current students, according to organizer Dale Flashner.

The Adelphi University graphic design program will hold a reception to showcase the work of young alumnus Jessica Baisley Nov. 13 at 6 p.m. on the third floor of Blodgett Hall.
Baisley, who graduated in 2011 and now works as a graphic designer at Agency Access in Hauppauge, will return to showcase her work post graduation.
The exhibit will feature a series of direct mail, email and PDF designs created by Baisley, including images from photographers Isaac Koval, Andrew Maguire, Skott Snider and Doug Birnbaum. Baisley created the designs and is also part of the marketing team for the photographers.
“I will be framing on the wall Birnbaum and Maguire's direct mail cards as well as their email design and bio page of their PDF,” said Baisley. “Then I will have a table of Koval's work with direct mail cards that will feature ‘augmented reality,’ making print become interactive, an iPad showing his email design and a MacBook showing his PDF portfolio. The point of the table is so people can see the marketing materials used in their correct context and better understand how they should be viewed versus the prints that will be framed on the wall.”
This is the latest in a series of events held by the Graphic Design department to display the work of young alumni to current students, alumni, faculty and friends.
“Jessica was a great part of our Graphic Design program,” said Dale Flashner, Baisley’s professor and organizer of the “Encore Series.” “The series is designed for alumni to come back, proudly show off their work and inspire the current students.”
The Graphic Design program is a very selective bachelor’s program within the College of Arts and Sciences. Many students engaged in the program have moved onto successful design careers. For more information on this event contact John Franklin at (718) 702-6531 or johnfranklin@mail.adelphi.edu.
