Bell's Kitchen & Smokehouse In Franklin Square Closes
The owner cited health reasons for closing the Long Island restaurant.

Bell's Kitchen & Smokehouse in Franklin Square has closed.
Lara Talt, the restaurant's owner, said she sold the restaurant because she was diagnosed with lupus.
"Due to me having lupus I had to make a very tough decision and unfortunately had to sell my restaurant," Talt said on Facebook. "It's been a pleasure to be a part of your lives. A lot of you have become family to me. It has been my pleasure getting to know you and your family."

Talt said she is not completely cutting herself out of the picture and will do catering and events out of her food truck.

The location will remain a barbeque restaurant with Talt's recipes and minor changes to the menu, she said. She will stay on until Nov. 16 to ensure a "smooth transition of the business for the new owners," she said.

Bell's Kitchen opened in 2017 and served up Cajun and barbecue favorites like ribs, pulled pork and chicken—all topped with signature bbq sauce.
"It was a very tough decision for me, but my health comes first, and hopefully with some time my health will improve and I can finish living my dream and serving the best Food Long Island has to offer," she said.
