The Gift of Life: Blood Drives This Month

For more than 40 years, January has been recognized as National Blood Donor Month. Here's a schedule of blood drives taking place Jan. 17-30:

• Jan. 17: Life's WORC, 1501 Franklin Avenue in Garden City (Training Rooms A, B and C); 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Click Here to Schedule an Appointment

• Jan. 18: Menges Residence, Long Island Blood Services bus will be parked in the driveway of 27 Hilton Avenue; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Click Here to Schedule an Appointment

• Jan. 20: Roosevelt Field Mall, Macy's Center Court, 630 Old Country Road; 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Click Here to Schedule an Appointment

• Jan. 29: Nassau Community College, in conjunction with Nassau University Medical Center, will host its 19th annual mid-winter blood drive in the multipurpose room of the College Center Building on campus; 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Call Barbara Vollmer at 572-7883 or Dr. Friedman at 572-7401 to make an appointment or just stop in on Jan. 29.

• Jan. 30: Garden City Public Library in the large meeting room on the lower level; 1:45 – 7:45 p.m. Call 742-8405 x210 to schedule an appointment. Walk-ins are also welcome.
