GARDEN CITY, NY — The Garden City community has rallied to support the surviving children of the three family members who were killed in a house fire on May 6.
Joseph and Gail Madigan, and their 18-year-old daughter Molly, were all killed after a fire started in their Washington Avenue home early in the morning on May 6. They are survived by their three older children, Claire, Emily and John.
As the children have started to plan the funeral for their parents and sister, the community has rallied behind them. A GoFundMe campaign created to help them has raised nearly $200,000 in just two days.

According to officials, the fire broke out in the Madigan home just after 5:30 a.m. Garden City firefighters were battling a massive fire in Westbury at the time and left to respond to the home, which was engulfed in flames. Garden City police were first on the scene, but the flames were too intense for them to be able to get into the house.
