Crime Blotter: Road Rage, Graffiti Discovered on Meadow Street
A look at this week's alleged crimes, reported by the Garden City Police Department.

Nov. 19: A designer sweater was reported stolen from a clothing rack in The Island clothing store.
Nov. 20: A window to a utility truck parked in Parking Field 6E was found damaged and a Wet Saw was removed from within.
Nov. 20: Officer Sansone stopped a vehicle on Fifth Street for improper plates. Upon his investigation, the driver, a 34-year-old man from Westbury, was arrested and charged with driving while his license was suspended for a prior DWI, driving with four additional license suspensions, no seatbelt, switched plates, unregistered auto and uninspected auto.

Nov. 20: Officer Wehr was conducting traffic enforcement on Edgemere Road when he stopped a vehicle for passing a Stop sign at Harvard Street. The vehicle was impounded and the driver, a 20-year-old man from Elmont, was charged with unlicensed operation, switched plates, unregistered auto, uninsured auto and passing a Stop sign.
Nov. 21: An unauthorized credit card was opened in a resident’s name and used to buy merchandise at a local store.

Nov. 21: A 2006 Chrysler was reported stolen from a Franklin Avenue business parking garage.
Nov. 21: Graffiti was found on a business sign and the sidewalk of a Meadow Street property.
Nov. 21: A GPS and sunglasses were stolen from a vehicle parked at a Grove Street residence.
Nov. 22: There was an attempted burglary at a Brook Street residence. A rear window was found broken. The alarm to the residence activated, apparently causing the subject(s) to flee the area.
Nov. 22:Â There was a burglary reported at a Kenwood Road residence, where a rear window was found broken. The subjects apparently entered the residence but fled upon the activation of an interior motion detector.
Nov. 22: Officers responded to a road rage incident on Merillon Avenue between two men. Both vehicles had stopped, and the driver of one vehicle, walked up to the other auto and punched the driver in the face causing pain, facial lacerations and a broken tooth. The victim is a 64-year-old man from Massapequa. Upon their investigation, Garden City detectives identified the suspect, a 69-year-old man from New Hyde Park, and arrested him for assault.
Nov. 23: Loose change was removed from a vehicle parked at a Second Street residence.
Nov. 23: A Nassau County ambulance assigned to the Garden City area reported an erratic driver on Stewart Avenue. Officer Laurita stopped the vehicle at Rockaway Avenue and upon his investigation, arrested the driver, a 43-year-old man from Westbury, for aggravated DWI (.18 percent blood alcohol content) and two unsafe lane violations.
Nov. 24: Officers safeguarded Hampton Road where strong winds caused a large tree limb to fall to the ground.
Nov. 24: Officers investigated a burglary on Somerset Avenue. A rear window was found damaged. Jewelry and other household items were reported stolen.
Nov. 24: Officers assisted the Garden City Fire Department with a serious fire investigation on Andover Court.
Nov. 25: Officers conducted a commercial vehicle inspection on Clinton Road: 13 vehicles were inspected, nine were placed out of service and 78 tickets were issued for various traffic and safety violations, including an excessive weight violation, a defective brake violation, two unsecured load violations and a defective steering violation.
