Five Towns Named Among Best Places On Long Island To Raise A Family

Just in time for Father’s Day, Niche.com took a look at the best places to raise a family in states across the country. And, in what probably isn't a surprise to residents, Hewlett Harbor and Woodmere made the list of great Long Island places.

According to its rankings for New York, Long Island towns make up half of the Top 100. Five Long Island towns made the top 10 while 30 towns made the top 50.

In the national rankings, Devon, Pennsylvania, earned top honors. Four Long Island towns also made the national list – Kensington (No. 44), Syosset (No. 65), Great Neck Estates (No. 77) and Jericho (No. 82).

The lists were created using information about public schools, crime rates, cost of living and family friendly amenities. Data was pulled from the U.S. Census, FBI, BLS, CDC, and other sources, according to Niche.
