BREAKING: The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for Nassau County.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for Nassau County. The watch will be in effect from noon Monday until 4 a.m. Tuesday.
Numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop across the area Monday afternoon into Monday night in association with a slow moving cold front. Multiple rounds of thunderstorms have the potential to move across the same area, leading to flash flooding, the NWS says.
Rainfall totals of 1.5 to 2.5 inches are expected across the watch area, with locally higher amounts.

The downdrafts from these thunderstorms could result in very gusty winds, even exceeding 58 mph for some areas, the NWS says. The main threat would be damaging winds with a lower chance for large hail.
A flash flood watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued, the NWS says.

Sunday Afternoon- Isolated showers and thunderstorms. Mostly sunny, with a steady temperature around 78. Breezy, with a south wind around 22 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Sunday Night- A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Patchy fog after midnight. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 71. South wind 15 to 18 mph.
Monday- A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1pm. Some storms could be severe, with damaging winds and heavy rain. Patchy fog before 10am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 78. Breezy, with a south wind 15 to 21 mph.
Monday Night- Showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 3am. Some storms could be severe, with damaging winds, gusty winds, and heavy rain. Low around 69. South wind 13 to 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.
Tuesday- A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 85. Southwest wind 9 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Tuesday Night- Partly cloudy, with a low around 67.
Wednesday- Mostly sunny, with a high near 83.
