Garden City Considering Locations For Dog Park
The village is considering building a place for its four-legged residents to play.
GARDEN CITY, NY — The Village of Garden City is considering locations to build a new dog park, which would give pet owners in town an area to let their animals play.
The village's Recreation Commission is looking at locations to build the park. Areas under consideration include St. Paul's, the grass area at the corner of Second Street and Hilton Avenue, and the south end of Grove Street, which Recreation Commissioner Paul Blake says is already being used as a de facto dog park.
“The dog park business is picking up steam like nobody’s business,” Blake said. “We
want to make sure we get this right.”

The Recreation Commission is working with consultant Marilyn Glasser, at no charge to the village. The commission is still in a conceptual phase, and haven't made any decisions about the location or makeup of the park.
Residents are encouraged to give input to the commission about what they would like to see at a possible dog park, and where it could be located.
