Garden City Exec Among Long Island's Rainmakers
The Whitmore Group's James C. Metzger Honored by Long Island Press.
The 16th annual Long Island Press Power List was celebrated this past Thursday at Leonard’s Palazzo in Great Neck to honor the thought leaders, policy makers and powerbrokers of Nassau and Suffolk counties.
“Those who call Long Island home include everyone from Fortune 500 company leaders to the top policymakers in new York State," said Joanna Austin, publisher of the Long Island Press. “It is a hotbed of innovation and scientific research. And it’s launched the careers of countless leaders in the education, real estate, nonprofit and healthcare sectors.”
James C. Metzger was among the honored “rainmakers.” He is the founder, chairman and CEO of The Whitmore Group of Garden City.

Metzger has led the insurance brokerage and financial services firm for 30-plus years. He also is known for his commitment to Long Island through a philanthropic program that engages sports, education and other initiatives with many organizations.
