Garden City High School Honors Senior Award Recipients
The school honored seniors for academic excellence, their character and much more.

GARDEN CITY, NY — Garden City High School honored members of the senior class who have demonstrated excellence, character and much more during a Senior Awards Ceremony on June 17. Families came together in the auditorium to continue the district’s longstanding tradition and celebrate this year’s honorees.
Following the Pledge of Allegiance and National Anthem, which were led by seniors Enzo Cupani, Sarah Fetherston, Emma Gardner, Rebecca Melkonian and Olympia Van Blenis, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kusum Sinha welcomed attendees.
Awards were presented by Principal Kevin Steingruebner, Assistant Principal Mandi Stefankiewicz and other administrators, faculty members and guests. They highlighted students’ accomplishments in the areas of community service, academics and athletics. The Garden City PTA and SEPTA honored students with awards in areas such as commitment and perseverance, special memorial awards were bestowed upon recipients who have demonstrated exemplary qualities, and leaders from each department recognized students who have excelled in their respective subject areas. Additionally, the event commended the 10 highest-ranking seniors (academically); National Merit Scholarship Finalists Ian Bailey, Anteng Chen, Ryan Padala and Anthony Remick and Class of 2021 valedictorian and salutatorian Ian Bailey and Jenna Matarazzo.
